Memories of Luna Park: A Verbatim Radio Play
Radio Play Team: Kieran Bott, Ash Burton, Matilda James, Arley Pearce, Pearl Pelaez, Nicky Ryan, Madeleine Tyler
Teachers: Tania Smeaton, Rhema Tieu
Verbatim theatre is a form of documentary theatre in which the play’s script is edited together from the exact words spoken by people interviewed about a particular event or topic. This piece is all about the history of experiences at Luna Park and tells the stories of a range of characters.
Our play explores different perspectives across a variety of ages, including Milsons Point Retirement Village residents. We gathered a range of unique stories and memories and recorded these in the sound studio. The end result was a verbatim radio play spanning nine decades of the meaningful ways Luna Park has impacted the lives of Sydneysiders.
Clowning and Street Theatre
The Clowns: Kieran Bott, Ash Burton, Matilda James, Arley Pearce, Pearl Pelaez, Nicky Ryan, Madeleine Tyler
Teachers: Tania Smeaton, Rhema Tieu
Industry Experts: Mirise Van, Felicity Jurd
For this experience we made sure we added in all of the ideas from the teachers, other actors and Luna Park associates. It’s all about creating an unusual and unique experience for our audience using the characters we created through workshopping and researching clowns.
We made a family tree to feel more connected to our characters and each other. This helps make the clients’ experience more immersive.

The Dance Ensemble celebrates the vibrant spirit of Luna Park, it's thrilling rides, enchanting performers, colourful artwork, and whimsical costumes. Through Contemporary and Cabaret Musical Theatre styles, our dance pieces reimagine the emotions and nostalgia Luna Park evokes, capturing its magic both on stage and on film. Inspired by the park’s aesthetics and iconic attractions, each work was choreographed specifically for live performance and screen, allowing us to tell Luna Park’s story from multiple perspectives.
