The Project

The Project is Bradfield's point of difference, providing a platform for students to immerse themselves in a real-world project as vital preparation for future careers.

The project – a major event with an external audience, is developed over 16 weeks. Students collaborate across various creative industries to a detailed creative and operational brief. Our hybrid workplace/project-based learning model uses design and future thinking processes to take a project from concept, through to delivery and mirrors industry practice.

With industry and community involvement, these young creatives develop real-world employability skills alongside academic, practical, and technical skills to prepare them for work and future study. They also emerge from the Project with a portfolio, and job application skills.

From 2016-2022, we developed events for Vivid Ideas – part of Vivid Sydney. In 2023 and 2024 students collaborated on an immersive multi-screen films – HEXAD and SPARK – which saw art students working alongside dance, music, and film students to create a unique immersive experience for their audiences. These films went on to play at multiple film festivals, including Flickerfest (2024, 2025), the Newcastle Short Film Festival (2024) and the Canberra Short Film Festival (2025).

The project is an award-winning educational experience. In 2024 Bradfield was awarded a national award by TAFE directors Australia: The Heart of Inclusion award in Innovative Teaching. Bradfield teachers also won the TAFE NSW Teaching Team of the Year award in 2023. In 2025, Bradfield is a finalist in the Australian Training awards School Pathways to VET category to be announced in  December. Bradfield is also nominated for the NSW Premier’s award for delivering world class education and training.

In its 11th year in 2025, the Project was a collaboration with Luna Park Sydney for their 90th birthday celebrations.
