Certificate III in Music Industry looks at performing, creating, contemporary theory and the business of music to give you a broad overview of the industry and prepare you for your future as a creative.

This course satisfies HSC requirements (non-ATAR) AND gives you a full Certificate III (with 11 units) when you graduate.

Develop relevant, technical, vocational and interpersonal competencies suitable for employment and further training in: musical performance and arranging/composition; music promotion and management; sound production and engineering; music regulation and licensing.
Our Yr 11 Music Industry TVET class has the exercise of creating a jingle and the ad to go with it. The exercise touches on multiple units of competency, including 'Create simple musical pieces using music technology'.

Music Industry students have the opportunity to perform at school and local events throughout the year. Select students are invited to collaborate on interdisciplinary projects, culminating in the development of high-level works used to build profiles and gain recognition in industry. Past students have gone on to win industry awards and secure places in specialist programs.
Music Industry takes advantage of the purpose built music spaces throughout the College.
These facilities include multiple music rehearsal rooms, a music recording studio, a theatre performance space, a small external stage platform, and two computer rooms for audio editing and composition.
Software available for use in the course includes Pro Tools and Garage Band.
Our teachers are working musicians who understand and operate within industry, providing relevant and up-to-date insights on current trends and best practice.

Chloe is an experienced VET teacher and university lecturer and is also active in the Industry as a musician, writer, and actor. In a previous life, Chloe worked professionally as an Opera and Musical Theatre performer, and backstage dep across South-East Asia, the UK, and Australia. She has a Masters in Music and Media, specialising in divergent representation.

Mervyn has been teaching music for over 15 years and is also an industry active professional musician and bandleader. He also teaches Entertainment and brings practical industry skills to enhance a strong academic approach. His Entertainment students have achieved 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the NSW HSC exams in previous years.
