The Project is Bradfield's point of difference, providing a platform for students to immerse themselves in a real-world project as vital preparation for future careers.
The project – a major event with an external audience, is developed over 16 weeks. Students collaborate across various creative industries to a detailed creative and operational brief. Our hybrid workplace/project-based learning model uses design and future thinking processes to take a project from concept, through to delivery and mirrors industry practice.
With industry and community involvement, these young creatives develop real-world employability skills alongside academic, practical, and technical skills to prepare them for work and future study. They also emerge from the Project with a portfolio, and job application skills.
From 2016-2022, we developed events for Vivid Ideas – part of Vivid Sydney. In 2023 and 2024 students collaborated on an immersive multi-screen films – HEXAD and SPARK – which saw art students working alongside dance, music, and film students to create a unique immersive experience for their audiences.
The Project is entering its 11th year in 2025, and we are excited to announce a collaboration with Luna Park for their 90th birthday celebrations.

Where nature and humanity connect and collide.
HEXAD is an ambitious event with creative education at its core. It provides a platform for Bradfield Senior College creative industries students to immerse themselves in a real-world project as vital preparation for their future careers. HEXAD is created using filmed footage of art, dance, animation, photography, fashion, poetry, and storytelling, accompanied by music and soundscapes to provide an immersive experience.
Students with skills and specialisation in various creative industries use project-based learning to work collaboratively, using design and future thinking processes to take a project from concept to delivery. With industry and community involvement, these young creatives develop real-world skills alongside technical, academic and workplace skills, better preparing them for work and future study.
Audiences can observe both the process of progressive creative education at play, and the result - a spectacular immersive event.
Learn moreWelcome to Playground of the Unexpected.
As we emerge from a distorted wonderland of expansion and contraction, it’s time to tread softly and dream big. Curiosity, energy and optimism are the drivers for community storytelling in film, photography, art, design, dance, music and drama – as seen through the eyes of young creatives at Bradfield College.
Find out how play allows for happy accidents and unanticipated delights. You’re invited to stop and play, then glimpse how our emerging creative talents approach our city and this ‘new normal’ by embracing the unexpected.
Playground of the Unexpected is the culmination of a creative approach to senior secondary education. For 16 weeks Bradfield year 11 students have worked in teams to stage the exhibition. It’s about providing a workplace experience in the creative industries so that student can build a skills passport made up of practical, technical, and transferrable skills to prepare them for future work and study options.
Learn moreWelcome to ReGeneration. How can creativity revive our community, our land, and our spirit?
ReGeneration is the culmination of a 16-week project where students choose a primary interest area such as art and design, performance, events, science, or film making and work towards an event for Vivid Sydney in August. It’s a workplace learning environment with an external client, focussing on the audience as motivator – not a final mark from a teacher. It’s preparation for industry, learning general capabilities such as collaboration, creativity, conflict resolution and communication.
Please enjoy some time to reflect and revive at ReGeneration.
