Bradfield had the largest HSC Visual Arts cohort in NSW in 2023 and 2024.

Find the way you want to explore your world through Visual Arts.

You will develop the technical skills and creative concept development you need to be able to express yourself artistically. Then we turn theory into practice, using your new skills to create a body of work in the expressive form of your choice.

Student Work

When you study visual arts you will get to explore your artistic practices in an adult learning environment. You are free to create and grow as an artist using opportunities to practice across a range of media.

Our students are regularly featured in ArtExpress and selected for National Art School scholarships. Amongst our alumni are graphic designers, visual artists, production managers and photographers.

You will be invited to exhibit your work throughout the school, at the Annual Design & Visual Art exhibition and at external exhibitions throughout the year.

Course topics

Studying visual arts involves exploring artmaking, art criticism and art history. You will develop your own artworks, culminating in a ‘body of work’ in the HSC course. You will also critically and historically investigate artworks through studying the work of artists, historians and critics from Australia as well as those from other cultures, traditions and times. Explore your artistry through mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and digital imaging.

The college has dedicated visual arts rooms and students have access to computer rooms for digital imaging, as well as a photography lab.

Facilities &
Faculty

Our state-of-the-art facilities include our custom built design, visual art, photomedia and technology studios. Students can explore their creativity using the latest technology such as a digital fabric printer, a plastic vacuum former and 3D scanner and printer, photographic equipment and the latest computer software.
