Put the remote down and design your own games at Bradfield!
Why not be a creator and not just a player of games? Dean graduated from Bradfield in 2016 and is currently studying a Certificate IV in Digital and Interactive Games at TAFE NSW and is enjoying studying something he is passionate about.
Dean will be coming along to the STEM Open Day on 16 August to answer any questions about studying STEM at Bradfield, pathways into gaming and generally sharing his perspective.
What subjects did you study at Bradfield?
Information Design & Technology (IDT), Food Technology, Multi Media, English & Maths.
What was your favourite subject?
Information Design & Technology.
Did you know what you wanted to study after the HSC?
I always knew that I want to work in IT. Completing the Certificate III in IDT at Bradfield helped me decide on a pathway to games design. The games design course that I'm studying is on the same campus as Bradfield, which meant I was familiar with the surroundings and I had heard of its reputation.
Did you get an ATAR?
I did get an ATAR, but it was never important to me. I knew at the beginning of Year 12 that I wanted to go to TAFE so it became irrelevant. It was more important that I had the skills and understanding to do the course.
Are you enjoying your course?
I love the course I'm doing now. It's a lot of fun and it's so cool learning what I am passionate about.
Bradfield really helped to prepare me for further study. The freedom you get going from school to TAFE is very different, however going to Bradfield made that difference a lot more manageable and less scary!
