Project Week: DVA, Research and Moving Image

Communications members have been reporting the works of each project group during project week and have captured the boundless progress and works individuals have been producing toward Bradfield’s SMILE event. This article contains the works of Moving Image, DVA and Research and their contributions toward Bradfield’s project.
DVA
DVA have been working between assigned groups to develop a mural that will be placed in Bradfield of the different eras of Luna Park from the 1930s and finishing toward a future piece. Each era has had a different colour palette incorporated within it and includes different rides or artworks that were recently installed in that era. The future group are predicting what a futuristic Luna Park may look like and have formed a lot of creative and interesting ideas to be inserted into their mural.
Each morning before getting to work, each era group has a meeting about what they want to add to the work, what ideas could be incorporated and what they want the overall art piece to look like. This technique has helped DVA share ideas and allow each student to express creativity in their own way.

Research
Research group has been working toward making a large information board which consists of information regarding Luna Park and its history, photos of the park from the past to the present and dedicated pages to Luna Park’s controversies, such as the ghost fire. Research members have worked hard and investigated controversies on their own which weren’t revealed until they had found the information themselves. These controversies involved Martin Sharp, an artist who created pieces for Luna Park and has been the inspiration for certain artworks being created by DVA. Research group is hoping to place the information board as a replacement of the spark board from Bradfield’s 2024 event and also create a virtual experience to further go into detail of Luna Park's past.

Moving Image
Moving Image have spent their time working with the dance group to form a dance interpretation of well-known attractions at Luna Park, such as the Big Dipper, the Ferris wheel and the mirror maze. Both groups have been working hard together to understand each group's use of their techniques and how they could most effectively form those techniques into a film involving both the dancers and the rides. Moving Image have altered lighting, colours and lenses to create an eye-catching film to be inserted into Bradfield’s SMILE event in honour of Luna Park.
DVA, Research and Moving Image have all been working tirelessly to create creative and interesting pieces which will largely shape Bradfield’s SMILE event. To learn more about SMILE and the hard work of Bradfield’s students, visit Bradfield’s website or Instagram.
